Latest Ranking – Cà Phê

The café scene has been so fluid lately that I had to update the list after just 3 months. Here are Mr. Nguyen’s latest rankings for the San Jose coffee shops. There has been some turnover, new girls coming into the scene, old ones leaving, and a few shops renovating and changing names. The majority of the coffee shops have raised their prices to $6 per cup of coffee and $7 per juice or smoothie to keep up with how expensive San Jose has gotten. The rankings reflect the cafes as a whole (girls, venue, coffee, food, service, girls, smoking/non-smoking, and girls).

1. Paradise Cafe
2400 Monterey Rd.
San Jose, CA 95111
http://www.instagram.com/cafeparadise408
Paradise Café is back from its yearlong hiatus with a vengeance. They are now #1. The venue is nice, the staff is outstanding, and the service is top notch. I’ve been here a few times since it re-opened, and I have to admit that their staff is probably the best in San Jose right now. At any given time, they have about 3 or 4 girls working. Their notables include Christine, Ruby Renegade (from MFC/Pornhub/myrubyr.com), Kelly (smokin’ hot), Jenny (from HS/Pandora/Tao). Huong (BK), Erin, Victoria, Lucy, and Shannon round out their crew. They have plenty of TVs for your sports viewing pleasure and a nice outdoor patio with umbrellas and heaters for cold weather. Parking can be problematic at times, but I just park across the street at the motel if it’s full. The location is somewhat out of the way for those working the tech scene, but they do have some great options for lunchtime dining around their shop for those engineers looking for a spot to eat and drink Viet coffee. The Plant is nearby with my favorite, Halal Guys, and Paradise is a block from Chick-Fil- A. My number one qualm with this shop is the indoor smoking, but the outdoor patio allows those sensitive to cigarette smoke to escape it. I believe this is the only remaining SJ coffee shop with $5 coffee.

2. Fantasy Café
1040 McLaughlin Ave
San Jose, CA 95122
Dream Café
2444 Alvin Avenue
San Jose, CA 95121
https://www.facebook.com/Fantasy-Cafe- 820415021345938/?fref=ts
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dream-Cafe/1506502706241235
Fantasy Café (formerly CN1) and Dream Café (formerly CN2) have slipped a little in the last few months after losing both Tran and Christine. Thankfully, they still have Nicole, and they have hired Kitty from Wave as well. The cafés are lingerie/bikini only, but their uniforms are probably the most creative of all the cafes and leaves a little bit to the imagination. Boss lady, Chi Uyen, has a great eye for Vietnamese café fashion. The waitresses are by far some of the hottest girls in the history of Vietnamese coffee shops in San Jose. Kathy, Missy, Anna, Angela, and a few new waitresses round out their roster. These two cafes are a great place to take people who are new to the Vietnamese coffee scene. No one I have brought has ever been disappointed. Lunch time is the best time. Fantasy and Dream Cafe have banned the smoking inside all day and night. Coffee is now $6/cup.

3. HS Coffee & Juices (a.k.a. Hotspot Café) (www.instagram.com/hs_sj)
2133 Morill Ave.
San Jose, CA 95132
Hotspot remains high in my book because of the great service. The location is a bit far from the hustle and bustle of Little Saigon, but it is well worth the drive. The attire is strictly PG, but it’s a somewhat refreshing change from the more risqué cafes. They’ve branded the Hotspot name and have been known to pass out T-shirts and sweaters with their brand on it. The venue is spacious, and the waitresses are extremely friendly and attentive. They make an effort to remember the regulars by name here, which actually gives this place a more intimate feel. Smoking has been banned completely. Some of the notable waitresses include Jay-Lynn, sisters Nhi and Kathy, Solenne, Paulette, Karen, and boss lady, Thuy-Anh and sister, Mai. Christina is a very notable addition to the Hotspot team and has quickly become one of my favorite waitresses if not my favorite. It would be nice if she worked more than 2 days a week there. They have plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sporting event, Vietnamese and Korean pop, or EDM and hip hop music videos. During football season, it’s probably one of the best places to watch every single football game on TV. They offer a variety of food and drinks for a very affordable price. I wish they had beer on the menu though. Coffee is now $6/cup, and I was somewhat disappointed when I had to pay $7 for OJ. They are applying for a liquor license, and beer will soon be served here. Visit their Instagram site to get updates on who is working.

4. Em Quyen
1998 Tully Rd.
San Jose, CA 95122
I believe the general consensus is that Em Quyen is the best risqué café right now. Most guys on this forum love this place, and it’s a constant subject of conversation. I’ve decided to move it to #4 in a tie with Nguyen Espresso because Nguyen Espresso has stepped up its game. It’s a great place to grab a cup of coffee in the morning before work. With smoking banned all day, this place is one of the cleanest. Ngoc, Nina, and Rebecca keep EQ one of the best cafes in San Jose. Newcomer, Lisa, was a great addition to EQ, but she didn’t last very long unfortunately. Quyen is still one of the prettiest owners around SJ. This place gets packed frequently, and due to the small size of the café, it’s not uncommon to share tables with complete strangers. There are plenty of HD TVs to watch your favorite soccer matches or football games. No food is served here, but you can run next door to Subway or the taqueria, and bring your food over to enjoy the games on TV. Coffee is $6/cup. The shop closes around 5 or 6 PM.

4. Nguyen Expresso
1659 Tully Rd.
San Jose, CA 95122
I’ve decided to move NE up to the #4 spot in a tie with EQ. They have improved the talent level. From my last few visits, the average age of the staff seems to have dropped. Jessa, Janet (of CN fame), Kathy, Lisa, Lien, and Katie are a few of their notables. Risqué factor is like EQ. Venue is small and cramped, but it is clean (relatively speaking) due to the non-smoking policy. The service is decent. This place is recommended for newbies to the coffee shop scene if they want to see what these cafes are all about. Coffee is $6/cup.

6. Palm Café (formerly Wave Café) (www.instagram.com/palm.cafe)
1969 Tully Rd.San Jose, CA 95122
I decided to move Palm Café to #6, but it could be higher if they banned cigarettes. The waitresses rank high on the hotness scale, and their uniforms do not leave a lot to the imagination, but the smoke absolutely kills this place. I would like to visit this place more often, but I can only stand the cigarettes for so long. Tina, Kitty, and Julie make this place worth going to. Rose is also a great addition to the roster. They do serve beer here, which bumps this place up a few spots.

7. Pandora Café
1174 N. Capitol Ave.
San Jose, CA 95132
I have mixed opinions about this cafe. Pandora is big with lots of TVs, but I can’t frequent this place much because of the cigarettes. The girls dress like they do at Hotspot, so essentially tank tops and mini-skirts. They have recently brought in waitresses from the OC, and if they continue to do this, it should draw a larger crowd to their shop. As a result, I’ve moved them up a couple notches. The venue itself looks nice and is very spacious, and they do serve food here as well.

8. Thoa Café
999 Story Rd.
San Jose, CA – Vietnam Town
Thoa Café monopolizes the café scene in Vietnam Town. Unfortunately, Thoa Café allows smoking all day now, and as a result, I have not moved this place up the ladder. My favorite waitress here is Jasmine. She is very easy on the eyes and very friendly at the same time. Waitresses are dressed in lingerie. It’s located conveniently next to Pho 90 and Com 90. Coffee is $6/cup.

9. Tylan Café
1743 Berryessa Rd.
San Jose, CA 95133
Tylan is a decent, little café. Coffee is good, and they have plenty of TVs for sports. They allow smoking inside and out, unfortunately. Parking can be horrendous at times. But they do have their loyal regulars there.

10. Lush Café
950 Story Rd.
San Jose, CA
Formally known as Café 168, Bliss, and Lan Café, this shop recently renovated. This café is okay. The venue itself is dark and smoky most of the time. Attire is lingerie and bikinis. I’d come here more often if they would ban the cigarettes. I believe they went through another name change again, but I haven’t confirmed it yet.

11. Quynh Huong
2441 Alvin Ave
San Jose, CA 95121
Quynh Huong Café is formerly Courtyard/Vogue and is still located across the street from Chuck E Cheese off of Tully Rd. I haven’t been able to check this place out, personally. Phuong (formerly Ozone and Tao) works here. It’s a nice, big venue with plenty of TVs. They have a wide selection of food and drinks, including alcohol. The cigarettes ruin this place. It does not make sense to me why they have a huge courtyard if they are going to allow smoking inside. Non-smokers can’t escape the smoke, inside or out..

12. Lavender Cafe
1054 Story Rd.
San Jose, CA 95122
Lavender is the former Thuy Em and Sao Café. I haven’t paid this place a visit, but based on what people have written on this board, it doesn’t seem much different than before. Some of the same girls from the past are working here now. And it sounds like alcohol is served as well. It may still be worth going to, but the cigarettes are the only reason I don’t frequent this place at all.

13. Café Quyên
1692 Tully Rd.
San Jose, CA 95122
This café has set the bar a decade ago in terms of dress code, so much so that the police and media have picked on this place more than any others. But it has lost its luster when compared to the glory days of a few years back. Current dress code is lingerie. The venue is small and cramped, and they do not have all the sports channels a café should have to watch your favorite sports. Due to the low level of talent and overall feel, I’ve moved this place out of the top 10. The café closes around 5PM.

14. M Café
Located on Burdette Rd. next to Lee’s Laundromat. This place is currently the best Vietnamese
quan nhau in San Jose.

15. 408 Café – Still confirming the name change
1692 Tully Rd. Ste 1, San Jose, CA 95122 – behind National Summit bank. Next to Quyen Café.

16. Paris Café
403 N. Capital Ave., San Jose, CA (24 Hour Fitness plaza)

17. Xinh Xinh Café
1075 Tully Rd, at the corner of Mc Laughlin. Same plaza with Com Tam Dat Thanh.

18. Dolce Expresso
Located at the corner of Quimby and Tully Rd. Same plaza with Michael’s.

19. Café Dạ Thảo
Located on Story Road across the street from Walmart.

20. Got Hong
Located in the same plaza as Café Quyen and Café 408

    1. Little Angel was a real charmer @ EQ Sunday and says she’s not off until Thursday. Has smiles and attention for everyone!!!–hot tip if you haven’t experienced her. Razor005, here’s a chance to check her & out again. Talk to her & enjoy:)

  1. Anyone know the 2 girls working at CN1 yesterday around noon. Hadnt seen them before and didnt get a chance to ask cor their names.

    1. There’s actually a default length limit to your comments. If it’s too long, it’s gotta be approved. But it looks like your post was fine.

My advice to you is to just talk to Tiffany. Go regularly, hand tip her, and she will notice you. Try to park the red Porsche right in front if you can.

  2. I went to CQ yesterday and saw Tiffany.

She was sitting with two older caucasians (at different times), but I’ve always had a crush on her from the very first day she started there.

I never had much guts to talk to her because I felt she was out of my league. She was just admonishing stuff on their phones, while I pretended to play with my iPhone as well and txt people.

Whether she did extras or not, all I ever wanted was to just get to know her. Her life. Her woes. Her ups and her downs. I’ve always felt she could have been an import model, or maybe she was and I had no clue how to support her.

She has *changed since she started, but I still felt the same way as since I first saw her. I sat there sipping my lemonade, and although I had a meeting to go to, I wanted to stay there the whole day and see if we could connect.

As I was approaching the counter to pay my bill, she lifted her 6 fingers to show me the price. Still would prefer sign language vs actually talking to me. A bit disappointed–I stumbled and asked her dumbly, are you Tiffany? (I know she was, but I needed something to say). She looked at me a bit confused. I paid my tab, and felt another 9 or 10 years for my crush to continue.

I left in my little red Porsche, and couldn’t help but wonder why she would sit with the older guys and not me? Was it me? I suppose I’m still a chicken sh!t when it comes to drop dead girls.

I’m sure she’s on this site, and she’s read a number of these posts. And if by happenstance she reads this–know that I do admire her and her diligence to keep doing this. It must be hard, but I wish I can just ride with her into the sunset somewhere while doing nothing but holding onto each other. Watching each other so we don’t fall off that horse.

    1. Please stop your thinking! No one in this world likes stalkers.

The problem is you not her!

      1. I’ll try again this weekend. I won’t have the Porsche this time. I live far and work far now, so will use the hybrid. Do you think she likes walks on the beach or going up the mountain in Castle Rock or Big Basin? Anyone knows what she likes?

        1. I love money more than anything on earth , I would get pissed off if any assholes or bitchess to get it free from me from using love ,friendship and shit. I only give out my money with a reason. Money is hard earned and of course I cherish it..

        2. Tip her $50 and hold the money in your hand while you ask her what restaurant she like. Then offer to take her there

          1. Saw her today, first time she was smiling.
I gave her a tip and she reciprocated with couple of hugs. Ordered the usual and I had some guy friends with me.

I left happy ftm. She probably doesn’t know anything about me, and I know it can be a bit apprehensive.

Maybe it’s just me overthinking—but I’ll enjoy the first hug and see if I can learn more about her later. Unfortunately, I’m super busy with work from now on, and I’m not sure when I’d be able to stop by. She still didn’t sit and talk with me, but I’m not upset. I got a smile, and that was good enough.

          2. Sumniceguy- that’s the first step, now she’ll remember you. Next time pull out a chair for her to sit and hand tip her.

          1. My only intentions are to get to know more about her. Everything else I leave it to fate.

          2. I have to see Tiffany for myself. I’ll talk to her and see if she’s available. If she’s not there, I’ll ask Jessica about her

          3. Yes she’s available for the right price. Most all of them are available including Jessica. Trust me your better off going to some of the massage places. Many of them will go outside of the shop. After they get to know you

    2. It is so funny for me to see some chick post her payless shoe up here to show how poor they are that they can’t afford expensive shoe like JIMMY CHOO OR CHRISTIAN L

    1. No wonder their marriage is strong . Rich marry rich are most like stronger than rich marry poor because they’re just after the money and it will last very short. Money is everything.

        1. I never take love and friendship important. Money comes first and it will be the most important thing in my life.

  3. Sunday updates at NE or EQ? Thinking about grabbing a morning coffee. Any updates are appreciated.

    1. I’m not going to sacraficing my own needs just to have a child for my parents to be happy. I rather not being able to have a kid at all so I can spend the money for ownself. I don’t hate children. I just don’t want to have it for myself. I don’t want that big responsibilities come to me. As a woman, you will do all the work if you want to have a child from carrying it nine months until take care of it.

    1. The new ANGEL @ EQ until 3, really sweet.
      Jessica til 2
      Gabby&sister. Getting slow now

      1. EQ’s Angel is really super friendly. A rehire.
All should be. Jessica’s good too

        1. You and i must have been looking at 2 different Angel.
She didnt move more than 6 feet from the counter and talked mainly to her butch gf. i was there for 45 minutes.
She talks loud and i didnt hear any English.

pretty much reminds me of the boss lady. She did not take any orders, mainly talked to Viet men.

          1. EQ? Small, round-faced, smiling Viet, ponytail, feisty, sparky, talks loudly in tiny voice, horizontally lettered tatoo collarbone to shoulder? Pinkish little dress, as I recall.Did talk/with short-haired older V gal under front tv for a while but makes the rounds, as opposed to the 2 Koeans. Doz English too. Say something to her & she’ll respond:)

          2. OH MONEY BABY , I LOVE U MORE THAN ANYTHING ON EARTH . BABY , YOU HELP ME TO TRAVEL TO MANY PLACES , HELP THE POOR , NICE CLOTHES , NICE HOME , GOOD FOODS , GOOD EDUCATION , GOOD HEALTH AND EVERYTHING IN LIFE UNLIKE A STUPID MAN CAN’T DO ANYTHING TO ME BUT BRING TROUBLES FOR ME.

        1. I pray to god that I will make it to the biggest trip ever in my life which is Vietnam ,Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau ,and Beijing this December. This trip is around 5000 to 10,000 dollars for me and my father.

  4. @HappyHunter,

Is Tiffany at CQ still giving extra customer service for a generous handtip?

    1. It was good for me yesterday. I don’t know what anyone else is getting. I see a lot with her and the older guys. I will be back today for some more.

      1. Thanks Happy Hunter. I stopped by late yesterday and she seemed preoccupied by some older guys. Do you typically just hand tip her and she automatically takes you for a show or do you have to give her a hint of what you’re looking for? Thanks!

          1. Just hand her a 20 Tell her to show like the other girls do. Get some balls and ask She does not bite hard. Once she knows you the fun begins. When was you there yesterday? If busy nothing happens.

    1. Mr. Coffee? You mean “The Tedinator” as in Ted Scarlett? The white dude who drives a beat up Civic? He has his own website now?

  5. Bad news, guys. This is Nicole’s last week at Fantasy/Dream. I don’t believe she’ll be back in the coffee scene after this. She should be working every day up until Friday, but even she doesn’t know which shop she’ll be at. She was at Fantasy today. Friday is her last day. Best to go see off one of the hottest cafe girls to ever grace the scene.

  6. Paradise- gina, lil jenny, huong, erin + lucy.

Second half- kitty, the body kate, rose + looks like trista is on rotation.

  7. @David……Sa Wa Dee Krap. Hey were you in Bangkok last night? Probably not, but I thought perhaps maybe it was you. Moved here in Jan 2016 right? Have met a few gym rat friends and one is Viet, cool guy. Chemical Engineering Degree from a University in Hanoi and works here for a Petroleum Company. Other friend teaches School here and is from Cleveland, Ohio.

Had a boys night out last night, Italian Food and then over to Soi Cowboy to “oogle” some of the girls. Pull into Bacarra Go Go, outside before you get in, they have tables outside, so you can get “primed” before heading in. 10 minutes later, couple of Viet guys pull in close to us and are sitting near us. I see one guy is wearing a t-shirt that says ” I love Viet Coffee Girls” with a picture of a girl on the front. Back side says “#16 David Nguyen” Ok, so I walk over and ask them about the shirt. They are from Santa Ana, know the San Jose Coffee Scene well. They have been in Vietnam on holiday and their friends and family think they are still there LOL! They did go there, but have done this twice now, go to VN for a week, then sneak over here for a week to enjoy some of the talent here before heading back to LA.

I had one of the Hostess bring them over Whiskey and Coke and gave her a tip to sit with them. 22 year old Univ girls work here on the week-ends, her name is ” Pom” quite nice. They liked her LOL!

Is our old alma mater UCLA in the final 4 this year LOL!

Just so you know too, we have coffee shops here, not quite as exciting as back home, but good none the less. One got busted a few months ago here on the outskirts of Bangkok, competition is stiff. The girls decide to wear just an “apron” and it was quite the nice view. But alas the moral Police swooped in and well you know….I tried posting up the link here, won’t post, she was quite nice looking. Sorry I missed this one.

All the best to all back home and hope you guys are still having fun.

    1. Hey, The Man. No, that was not me. I’m still stuck in Man Jo. Haven’t been in Thailand in almost 3 years. Speaking of Bacarra, definitely the best Go Go Bar on Soi Cowboy. You definitely did the right thing and moved to Southeast Asia. I’m trying to figure a way for me to retire early there myself.

      1. David, no worries, when you are ready and if you decide Thailand is for you let me know. I can help. Bacarra was good 19 years ago when I made my first visit and the girls that I had the pleasure of their company never disappoints.

Hey maybe The Lakers can cut Lonzo Ball and he can get another year of elgibility at UCLA? He sucks, over rated amd over paid.

If you want, post up your e-mail address here and we can take this offline, I can send you that link to the Thai Coffee shop and you can tell me what you think and I can send some pics of my “friends” here Na Krap.

        All the best….

    2. And no, UCLA lost in the play-in game. Pathetic… They need to fire Coach Alford, but sadly, it looks like they’re keeping him around…

  8. Is the Tiffany from CQ the korean chick from back in the day. A few years ago I remember there was a korean Tiffany working there

    1. It is not the same girl. The Korean Tiffany ,I think, worked there in 2013. She only wore pasties to cover her nipples.

      Tiffany at CQ is Vietnamese.

      1. jdog, its the same tiffany that has been working at CQ forever. She wore pasties several years ago but now just a bikini top and bottom. I have no idea why she stays there. The place is dead and not a lot of money to be made… she should go to the other cafes to make big bucks! I bet she is a lazy ass and thinks she is special and wants easy tip money from the few customers there…

        1. They still make a lot money. Most are hand tips. Once she know you tip good. She will become your friend.

    1. Yep, guess I’ll fill my car with gas and head over there right away,….(before reality sets in).

  9. What they said about CQ is true! All of it. Just hang around long enough and you will see.

    1. stop BS! There’s nothing going on at CQ! I would not be surprised that this post is by someone working there or someone helping them. Everyone knows the place is dead… I don’t know how it stays in business so long. It sad that that CQ has to resort to BSing to pull in more customers! EQ and NE are the best place to see anything… CQ is done… its just a matter of time…

    2. Was there today. They will tell you. Only for you no one else. You know is BS. Soon as I walk out the door I know it will be someone else.

          1. Seen it as well. They are “friendly”. Old out of shape grannies but “friendly”. Just drop some 20s.

          2. I would suggest everyone rush to CQ and “see” for yourself. I did when I initial read about things happening there. They need the business. They won’t be getting mine anymore. Place has turn into a real dump with 2 grandmas, han and jessica and tiffany while younger is fatter and sits with people who are stupid enough to tip her for doing nothing!

          3. Mr. Avacado & Janets P___y–Those “grandmas” @ CQ are anything except “out of shape”! They’re hotter than hell @ any age. You & I’ll be damned lucky to be in half the shape they are when we are their age. And that age isn’t bad.

Too bad you “pre-pubescent squires” can’t appreciate anything except pierced, tatooed babies who hide behind a counter because they don’t want to talk to us.

    1. thanks for the info.
how did you register for the other site?
there’s no ‘register’ button or such

  10. cannot get into the yourcoffeegirls website.
    how do you register now?

anyone got updates to whos working cafes???

    1. I got in last week to that site. EQ has pretty curvy Asian girl in black, she sit and talk and one other. Kinda slow

  11. information about CQ is all fake news! there is nothing going on there. slow as fk. I think its written mostly by people trying to get customers into their dead place.

    1. Confirmed!! Fake ass news. Went their today and they were closing early, hand tipped Tiffany and she didn’t even sit down to talk.

      1. Fake news is good for site like this!
What can people write about coffee shops? Nothing. Most of them write who is working or who is not working! When fake news talk about something else, people tend read about it!

          1. Late shifts too!
Suggest to Mamasans that they could use this site to post their line-up, advertise when they have a new waitress appearing or offer a one-day special price.–Just good business.

          2. Good idea, mention to owners and maybe you’ll get free coffee. Let us know what they say back to u

    2. Fake News is the phrase you use when you want to pretend something is not true. Nice try covering it up though. Most people know it’s true.
